Welcome to the Hatcher Family Dairy Blog. This is The Word from the Herd.

The Hatcher family has been extremely blessed by the good Lord since we started processing our own milk in May of 2007. We had developed a pilot marketing agreement with Middle Tennessee State University to process our milk. The response to Hatcher Milk has been remarkable. As a result, we have been busy constructing our own on the farm small processing facility. This facility will help us be more efficient and offers us a greater flexibility. We will keep you updated on the status of the construction of our new facility. Currently, our target date for opening is the middle of January. Stay tuned to this site as we provide further updates.

PASTURE UPDATE: The cows are currently grazing wheat and clover in two of our 10 pasture lots. In most of the other pasture lots ,winter ryegrass is coming up and is almost ready for grazing.Recently, several pasture lots were seeded with winter wheat .The cows love lush green grass. Seeding the pasture lots with different grasses gives the cows a variety and boosts milk production.

Our lush pastures translate into more antioxidants, CLAs, omega 3s  and flavonoids. Add that to the fact that milk already is an excellent source of calcium, protein, and minerals and you have the very best product available in Hatcher Milk!
