The Hatcher family has been extremely blessed by the good Lord since we started processing our own milk in May of 2007. We had developed a pilot marketing agreement with Middle Tennessee State University to process our milk. The response to Hatcher Milk has been remarkable. As a result, we have been busy constructing our own on the farm small processing facility. This facility will help us be more efficient and offers us a greater flexibility. We will keep you updated on the status of the construction of our new facility. Currently, our target date for opening is the middle of January. Stay tuned to this site as we provide further updates.

Processing Plant Update:
Here's to you loyal Hatcher Milk drinkers! It has been an exhausting, expensive labor of love but finally our very own farm milk processing facility has been completed, past inspections, and is up and running on our farm. Now, for the first time gallons of  Hatcher milk are available. The milk goes from the cow–to the cooler tank–through a wall into the processing  facility–and quickly into the jug where it's then available to you. You can't beat that kind of freshness! Stay tuned as buttermilk and half & half are on the horizon. Did I mention to DRINK HATCHER MILK!!!

Here are some new photos.

Hi, I'm a regular buyer, and I noticed the gallon for the first time in the Turnip Truck last week! Congratulations!! The chocolate milk is still delicious but tastes a little different all the sudden... did you change the recipe?

Congratulations, Hatchers!

U.S. Farm Report

Hi,
Just saw your story on the U.S. Farm Report(think that was the name). Keep doing what you are doing, it's fantastic! Sounds like you folks will have a very good business and a great way of life! Biggest regret in my life was when my parents sold my grandparents farmland years ago. You hang on to your farm, it will be a great business for you. I just wish I had access to your products up here in Maine. I'm going to keep your site under my favs, and maybe I can get a sweatshirt or a gift package in the future - and if I'm down that way I will definitely stop in.

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update

Also saw your bio on the us farm report and had to get online to learn more. Wish there were more pics about your processing and production line. My grandpa and I farm corn and soybeans and have pasture for our cow-calf herd...mostly Angus. When he was younger he made enough money milking a small heard to buy a half section of land which grew to over 700 acres as time passed. He gave up the dairying before he moved into the farmhouse on our homeplace. I tell myself I can make a go of dairying on a small scale and be profitable in some niche market. My 91 year old grampa thinks otherwise and maybe he is more realistic.

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update

Thanks everyone for your comments. Yes, the plant is open and we are working very hard to learn our new jobs. Trust me when I say cleaning the barn is easier than processing milk! You regulars please bare with us as we get our measures and tank sizes down pat. Our chocolate milk the first week was too chocolaty (some say no such thing) and the next to milky- Hopefully tomorrow we'll hit it just right.

More pictures are on the way-just have to get them up.

Lucky for us we love the farm and what we are doing as we are working round the clock to get this all in play. Drink and BUY Hatcher milk! Much stainless steel to pay for.

I saw your show on CMT Saturday. We loved it. Our daughter goes to Community High School and will be going to your farm for an Ag trip on Thursday. We had never heard of you before and are so excited that this is the farm she is going to. We are always looking for something to check out, will have to make a trip. Good luck.

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

Dear Hatcher Family,
I was able to sit and watch your show on CMT and I think what you did with those children was wonderful. I see the strict side but I also so a major amount of compassion. I went to an agricultural high school but was forced to drop out because of my own doing. I don't think I regret anything more then that and wish I would have had the opportunity to go back. If I'm ever in the Tennessee area I will stop past and definitely try your products. Bless you and all of your family !

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

We just saw your show! (I made my kids watch w/ me. Boy 14, girl 10, boy 7) I think your gr8t! What the world needs today is a good dose of The Lord, some family values and a pinch of switches! I hope those two beautiful young adults take your love and life lessons w/ them! (and not your truck!) Keep up the good work! I do believe that the sacrifices you made bringing two very impressionable teens into your home (and a strange camera crew) will be rewarded with some good advertising for your farm! May the Good Lord rain many blessings upon generations of Hatchers to come! (wish we had some of your product in Texas!)

Thanks everyone for the positive comments about the show. We feel blessed that the faith element did not get cut out in the editing. I'm very proud of my brother Charlie and sister in law Sharon. Their realness was obvious.

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

I watched your show on CMT and was very impressed by the way you both made a difference in the lives of two teenagers. Faith in the lord, good values and hard work are what's important in this life. You didn't just preach that, you practice it every day. I'm also impressed with the way you are so kind to your animals. Thank you for what you do.

I notice that you have a store. Do you do any mail orders? There were some pretty coffee mugs with your farm's logo on them, and I'd love to buy one. If I'm ever down in Tennessee again, I will stop by!

By Jean on   5/2/2009

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

Now that your farm is famous, you should consider selling some of your store's non-perishable products online.

By Jean on   5/2/2009

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

We are working on that- for the time being we can take phone orders and ship to you. Some of the things we currently have that are non-perishable are the coffee mugs, t-shirts, red hoodies, and hats. We also have some locally made soaps that smell great and are made with our milk. I'll work on at least getting some pictures up so people can see what we have.

Farm

I have always had a desire deep in my heart to own/work on a farm. I live in South Carolina in a city called Hartsville. The only farms you see around here are tobacco, corn and cotton. It would be really great if we could purchase your products here. Might be something you guys should check into. I have a degree in business with a concentration in Management and Marketing. I would very much enjoy working with you guys in establishing your business in the deep south. Keep up the good work and I hope that God will continue to bless you guys, and may God shine his light on you bless your family business beyond what you could imagine. I love you guys and feel like I am a prt of your family and would love to come and spend a week on the farm working with you and getting a better understanding of the life and hardships that you endeavor.

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

Hi Alan- Thanks for believing in what we are doing but I don't think our 55+ cows will be putting much of a dent in the milk industry outside of our middle Tennessee area. Our pastures determine how many cows we can milk and pasture derived milk is key to our success and mission. Our objective is to make our family farm sustainable by putting every drop of Hatcher milk (and no one elses) in our own label bottle and selling it locally. You'll have to visit us inTN sometime for the best chocolate milk ever!

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

We have a Jersey cow Peaches; we milk her, pasteurize her milk, and use it for cheese, butter, ice cream, drinking milk, etc. for our family. We wish you good luck bringing that quality to the market place. I hope you succeed, since milk treated the way you do is by far the best.

Hi Hatcher Family, I loved y'alls show on CMT, and Lucy, Please tell Sharon I cried right along with her every time she cried. Such a passionate woman, with such a BIG heart. You all are the epitome of American hard working families, bless you all. Luckily my family lives down there in Tennessee, and I'll be there this summer, and then fall. I am going to make a point of coming by the country store to try some of that milk you are making, we don't have non-homogenized milk up here, that's just UNHEARD of. In fact I didn't even know they still made it YUMMY. My dad used to tell me stories about how back in the 30's, when the milk was delivered, he and his friends would drink the cream off the top of their neighbors milk (how rude lol) and get into trouble. Keep up the good work, and I'll see ya this summer =)

CMT & Farm

As a city girl until 6 years ago when i married into a Dairy Family, I was really disappointed that everything seemed so robotic, (not allot of heart). Then i came along, cows now have names and get allot more pesty & Friendly. I work hard everyday wanting 2 be a part of this world, that know one could see the way i saw it.
That was until i watched CMT about ur farm , when realized your family sees & feels about what god has given you the same as i do, even 2 the simplest things 2 others as a 7 leaf clover would keep my head up for months, God Bless You...
What reached me the most is the Tears that were shed while holding on 2 your pride in your Family & Farm , when outsiders such as teenagers [that have know idea about life at all] come and think you must be insane 2 live this way. KUDOS 2 you 4 being the bad guy, and you never backed down & stood by your beliefs 2 them and the world on TV. That took alot of guts. and in the end they left you seeing insanity had nothing to do it. Its the luv u have for what u have chosen todo with your life/occupation. I have shed those same tears many times feeling so out of place here. But thanks 2 you I know if farm life isn't in their heart they are truly the outsiders. & it Sucks 2 be them.

Again Thank you & it sounds like your doing great....

Happy 40th Birthday today baby brother (Jim Hatcher).

Also, Thanks to all who have written the nice comments. Your encouragement means much to the Hatcher's. Especially after Murphy's law has touched us this week. The bottler motor burned up and has put us behind 2 days then the delivery truck broke down on the interstate!

By Lucy Hatcher on   8/13/2009

Making a difference :o)

Greeting from Asheville, NC ! I just saw you all on "The world's Strictest Parents". I was very moved by how Mr. Hatcher shared Psalm 23:2. I had to look it up. I grew up without going to church except for weddings and funerals. I have heard it before but did'nt really know what it was. I have always loved the outdoors and went to 4-h camp all summer long for 8 years in my youth. We would sing a prayer called "johnny Appleseed" before each meal. While I watched your family, I felt I was seeing what a family could be, at it's best! You are an inspiration to me and I'm sure a good deal of other people. I am really looking forward to bringing my family to see your farm in the future and sample some of your fine milk! :o) It would seem that your milk is almost a metaphor. Like the milk of human kindness! God bless you all!

Your Farm

Hi my name is Laura and I live in Seattle Washington with my husband up in the mountains. I really enjoyed watching your family on the strictest parents show. It was amazing how you turned these childrens lives around, and I commend you for it. I looked to see if your farm was on the Internet and here you are. Problem is I don't see anyway I could order soap,or T shirts from you. Maybe I'm missing something but if not why dont you give it a try and sell some of your products online.Just another way to keep your farm going for generations to come. I wish you and your family all the best and if you ever want to visit Seattle just look us up in the phone book. We live in North Bend, a beautiful part of Gods country with tall pine trees, and three connecting rivers. Alot different from where you live. Thankyou for sharing a part of your lives with others, Laura

Catchin up

Wow! We are always amazed by your great feed back. Thanks!

Good week here on the farm. Corn silage has been harvested, motor repaired on the bottler, and the delivery truck is back on the road. Two new accounts have been added and we are closing in on our 100 % mark meaning all of our cows milk will have a Hatcher label on it.

The girls (our dairy herd) are working hard and have enjoyed a great summer on lush pastures thanks to all the rain.

For those of you who live far away but want something "Hatcher"- call our store. We have a homemade Buttermilk Almond soap and other logo items we could ship to you.

Green Pastures

What a beautiful day today on the Hatcher Family farm. The sun coming up this morning over the hill cast a wondrous light on the fall pastures of winter wheat, red clover and ryegrass with the bright fall colors of the trees as contrast, it was truly something to behold. I just wish everyone could see it .

God Bless Sharon and Charlie for all you taught Jessica and Reid on the Hatcher Dairy Farm you are special people. Charlie when you found that 7 leaf clover as you as Christians know that 7 is Gods perfect number whow how Awesome is our God! We got to know you both on the World's Strictest Parents, Sharon I cried with you and the difference you have made in these 2 kids is HUGE!!
Our family watched you move a mountain. We live in Lancaster PA with lots of dairy farms and have friends who are dairy farmers and we know the hard work. It was amazing how you shared Psalms 23 and God's love with Reid. May our Lord God bless you and your farm, family and new dairy store. May God continue to guide you with making a difference in lives of others on your own mission field at Hatcher Dairy Farm. It does not matter 100 years from now what you have and how many toy you bought, what matters is who you touched and made a difference for years to come. Just as you shared with these teen and showed them , told them about God's love and made them think.
God Bless!

World Strictest Parents

I have been watching this program for quite sometime, trying to learn and see what parents like you are doing right, and what we could possibly be doing wrong with our 14 year old son. As I watched the program with your family as the host, I must say that I probably cried most of the time, seeing how much Reed was like my son, very materialistic, lazy, self centered, etc. I saw the genuine tough love that you gave these kids and the change that was made. This particular show with your family truly hit home with me. I really believe that helping these kids and their parents meant so much to you and that you weren't putting on any act, this was real. I only wish that we lived closer to be able to meet and talk to your family to try to get some better prospective on how we can change our son before he ruins his life. We are a military family who works very hard for what we have, if only he would help us out once in a while. Thank you so much for your inspiration! Maybe you could offer some words of wisdom? God Bless your family and best of luck with your dairy business!

Christmas

Looking back on 2009, our television experience with Reed and Jessica and the feedback we have received has changed the Hatchers forever. Many teenagers and parents saw something they liiked on our episode. I'm not sure whether it was our faith, our family or our farm but we realize we have a calling to continue to live as we do . During this Christmas time , remember, it's not about how many material possessions you have but it's all about your personal relationship with God. Celebrate God's love and his son's birthday this Christmas. Christmas provides hope.

Re: Farm Processing Facility Update 4/27/2009

Well~ It's certainly wet here on Hatcher farm! We've gone from rock hard frozen tundra to knee deep mud. Seems to be much more of a problem for us humans than the animals thank goodness. The winter pastures are hardy and the cows are content. We Hatcher's are hard at work trying to meet the demands of the milk sales which continue to amaze us with how they are consistantly increasing.
Planning and preparation for the Spring farm Tour kick off in March is upon us and we look forward to longer, warmer days to get the work done. We work hard and sleep even better. Other than brother Charlies bout with H1N1 God continues to bless us with good health.

Dairy Farmer's Daughter

I was doing some research on my husband's family and found this websight. I was raised on a dairy farm in Northeastern Oklahoma during the 50's. We had a small herd of Holsteins but kept enough Jerseys and Guerneys to keep the butterfat content up thereby getting a better price for our milk. Good luck to you guys.
