Pearl Hatcher
Posted on July 01, 2010
Pearl Hatcher
Pearl is young and very beautiful. She is the envy of many a cow. Her predominantly white color sets her apart from the other Holsteins. Her mother and her mother's mother were also mostly white.
She is a first calve heifer (meaning she is pregnant for the first time). She is currently eating and relaxing in the "springer" or "dry" cow lot waiting to calf. These are terms used for a pregnant cow out of milking production. After having her calf, Pearl will be an official working Hatcher Dairy cow, giving her fresh milk twice a day in the milking parlor.
